It took many centuries to build The Great Wall of China. It was built between 5th century to 16th century depicts the patience and dedication people of the ancient times had towards creating miraculous structures that still stand tall. The Great Wall of China is the only structure that can be viewed from the moon. This was created as a border for the Chinese kingdom to protect them from the invasions of Mongols. This is a 4000 miles long structure and is a man-made fortification.

During various rules, emperors kept extending the construction of the wall to protect China from silk invaders and other Northern invaders. Stone, brick, and sand was the only material used to build this Great Wall.

This is a long wall structure that spirals along desserts, plateaus, grasslands, and mountains. It was built by Qin, the first emperor of China. During the Ming Dynasty, The Great Wall of China was built. It was later reconstructed and restored in 1957.

Today you can also visit parts of the Great Wall of China in sections. The Badaling section is popular amongst the visitor. Within the Great Wall are many sections that provide scenic views and are spots for hiking trails. The Mutianyu section has lush green on either side and can be reached with cable cars. Within this section, you can find restaurants, eateries, and is a 4-hour tour within this section.

The Jinshanling is a section that is built on the Gold mountain ranges. Photography and hiking are popular in this section of the Great Wall. This is a less crowded section and has 31 watchtowers. You can reach this spot with cable cars that are available at the gate where you buy tickets.

This is a colossal 98 feet statue that stands tall at the summit of Mount Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro in the southern part of Brazil. The construction of this statue was completed in 1931. This statue is made in concrete and stands on a pedestal that is 26 feet high. This sculpture is made in art-deco style and is the largest sculpture in the world. This statue was proposed in the honor of Princess Isabel, daughter of Pedro II, the emperor of Brazil in the 18th Century but never built. The Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro in the year 1921 proposed to build this statue on the summit of the mountain so that the entire city could have a view of it. This was done to celebrate Brazil’s independence from Portugal.

Carlos Oswald and Silva Costa designed the statue and sculptor Paul Landowski designed the arms and head of the statue. Silva Costa supervised the entire make of the statue for 5 years. On October 21, 1931, this statue stood tall on the summit of the mountain that the entire city could view. In the year 2002 escalators and paths were built so visitors could reach the statue.

In the 15th and 16th century when Inca empire ruled the place, Machu Picchu was built in South America. This site has been abandoned over 100 years after its construction. The history of this place is still unknown and is theorized to be a religious site. Many theories were proposed about the site when it was discovered. A book is also based on this site by the name, “The Lost City of Incas.”
